Card Designs

I was recently commissioned by an online card company to create new designs for their customers to choose from. Here is a small sample of some of the custom art I created for them.

Photoshop Layers Match

Saturday’s PHX Layers match was myself versus Victor Vasquez. Basically what happens in a Layer match is first, a coin toss, and whoever wins has 30 minutes to come up with a design in Photoshop. After their time is up they then pass it off to their competition who has another 30 minutes to manipulate the file keeping some element(s) from the previous design. This goes on for three rounds. It’s tough, thirty minutes is not a lot of time once you get started.
It’s kinda strange because I think I’m becoming addicted to this competition, it’s fun, I even get butterflies right before it begins.  Check out PHXLayers.com to see all the matches.
Here is my final “volley” from Saturday’s match.

Another Local Artist

John Dowd, who I happen to be related to (brother-in-law), has some really nice prints available for purchase. John travels all over the place with his wife, Kate, and he documents their travels through his artistic eye. He is selling these prints at 4×6, but personally I think they should be waaay bigger (I’m sure you can contact himfor larger sizes, if interested).Â

Here are a few that are available. This one is my favorite, “Full or Empty” I love the symmetry, lighting and colors. Reminds me of something serene and nostalgic that I can’t quite put my finger on.

Oh and I’d like one of each of the Desert Growth series the size of my walls please.  Really nice monochromatic colors, are these cacti glowing?

Symphony of the SW Promotional Creative

I recently created a brochure, membership cards and magazine ad designs for The Symphony of the Southwest. They all turned out quite nice. Pictured here are the brochure and the membership cards, the ad has not been printed yet, so I’ll add that later.

I wanted to create a better cohesiveness for the SOTSW brand. So for the next year, we will incorporate these colors, design elements and fonts into all of their promotional and business materials to give them a more consistent, professional look (and hopefully make them more money so that they can keep supporting the arts!).

(p.s. I apologize for the poor image quality, I desperately need a new camera.)
